Help People with Injuries Live Life Without Limits

Approximately 30% of American adults experience joint pain, swelling or limited movement and are desperate for relief. Musculoskeletal injuries are both common and incredibly debilitating, with even minor orthopedic injuries taking a toll on quality of life. Not only do these injuries hinder people’s ability to lead an active lifestyle, but they can also have an adverse effect on social functioning and mental health. Corrective Exercise for Musculoskeletal Injuries will teach you the basics of working with clients who suffer from common musculoskeletal injuries. You will gain an understanding of these injuries and learn effective strategies to help your clients return to an active lifestyle and regain physical and emotional well-being.

Led by Jan Schroeder, Ph.D., professor of kinesiology at Long Beach State University and internationally recognized exercise physiology and fitness author, this course serves as an introduction to the ACE Medical Exercise Specialist Certification. It will give you an understanding of the field of medical exercise, equip you with strategies to help your clients recover from injury and provide you with insight into the ACE Medical Exercise Specialist Certification.

Career Outlook

Musculoskeletal injuries are the most common cause of long-term pain and physical disability in the United States, yet there are relatively few health and fitness professionals who possess the knowledge and skills to effectively help this population recover from injury. This course will help you diversify your offerings and expand your business to serve this sizeable and largely underserved population.

You will learn:

  • The scope of practice for a fitness professional working with clients with common musculoskeletal injuries and the appropriate process for client referrals
  • The anatomy of the shoulder, low back, hip, knee, ankle and foot as it relates to musculoskeletal injuries
  • Common orthopedic injuries and the appropriate exercise protocol to help clients improve their quality of life

Excellent instructor. Very clear. Would definitely recommend.

nicely and manageably presented, good introduction to the CME certification

An excellent course that gives useful information and practical exercises. I feel better prepared as a personal trainer in working with clients who may have pain in commonly injured areas.
